Your significant other asked, and you said "yes!"  You've selected the wedding and engagement photographer of your dreams (me).  Now, you are have to figure out where you want to have your engagement photos taken.

There are several things which make this an important decision such as what to wear, what to bring, what time of day, and what location.  As an engagement photographer in Dayton, Ohio, I go to a lot of really cool places around Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus. I suggest choosing a meaningful location to you or just a setting you like.  Did you get engaged in the Oregon District?  Choose it.  Do you love nature?  Choose Cox Arboretum.  Did you both graduate from U.D.?  Choose it. I hope that helps a bit.  And now, to help make you decisions easier, I want to share these engagement session locations with you.

Additionally, I am providing several engagement preparation tips to make you 1 hour session a success.  It’s crucial that you allow yourself extra time to perfect your wardrobe, style yourself, and travel. I recommend arriving for your session early. You can take the opportunity to enjoy a few moments of relaxation before we begin.

Feel free to bring meaningful props or your pets.  If you do bring a pet, please have a third human present to keep the pet for the remainder of the shoot.

I recommend having your hands free throughout the session, so I’d prefer not to have you carry extra clothing, a purse, drinks, or anything else. You can leave these items at our starting location, most likely in your vehicle. We can come back halfway through the session to change and freshen up.

Throughout your session, you’re encouraged to embrace whatever mood you’re feeling. Feel free to relax, laugh, and have a good time. Portraits are best when you are yourself. It’s important to remember - just because there is a camera pointing at you, you don’t have to look at the camera. Sometimes the most meaningful images are when you’re enjoying a moment instead of posing.
