Dayton Greek Orthodox Wedding
December weddings are rare for me, but they often provide great backdrops and colors that complement the wedding couple. The December 29th Dayton wedding day started and ended at the Hilton Garden Inn Dayton South at Austin Landing. The Hilton Garden Inn at Austin and the HGI in Beavercreek are great wedding day hotels in the Dayton area. Both hotels feature large rooms that are perfect for the bridal party's hair and makeup. Additionally, each hotel offers a large wedding reception hall with good food and a great staff. Outside of the banquet hall is a large space for cocktail hours, photo booths, and full bar service.
Saturday's enjoyable bride wanted family photos and bridal portraits taken in front of the Christmas tree and holiday decorations that sit next to the foot bridge. With an overcast day and vibrant wedding colors, we were able to create beautiful group photos that popped agains the Christmas background. I was able to use a Christmas ornament to capture a reflection of the bride and groom. The tricky part to this was not capturing my own reflection. After spending 30 minutes in the cold weather, the bridal party and families headed for the wedding at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
Dayton's ornate and welcoming Greek Orthodox Church on the hill overlooking downtown Dayton and the Dayton Art Institute is beautiful, historic, and accessible. This was my second or third wedding at this church, and it did not disappoint. The groom's family is Greek, and they were absolutely wonderful and fun. The bride's family was also fun to work with, and they were just as boisterous!
