A few years ago I had the opportunity to photograph an intimate Ohio River wedding on BB Riverboats' River Queen. This vintage paddle wheel riverboat on the Ohio River (near Newport, Covington and Bellevue) provides an amazing and unique wedding venue for Cincinnati and northern Kentucky.
I woke up that Saturday morning to find a hard, constant rain and a forecast for the rest of the day to match. Later in the day, I arrived at the BB Riverboat dock across from Great American Ball Park and Cincinnati, Ohio. As an aside, the last time I was on a BB Riverboat was December 29, 2002 for the implosion of Riverfront Stadium. I ran up the ramp through the pouring rain while carrying my gear.
That day the wedding was to take place on the covered but open upper deck while the reception was to be inside on the first deck. When it came time for the wedding, with the rain still pouring down, everyone made their way to the upper deck. By the time everyone was in place and the bride was about to walk down the aisle, the rain magically stopped (completely) and the sun came out. It was amazing! The wedding took place on a wet upper deck in the sun and we all went down to start the party. As soon as everyone had moved to the reception, the rain started again and didn't stop until the next day.
Although this was my only BB Riverboat wedding and the second time I had taken a ride on the riverboats, I would highly recommend this Cincinnati wedding venue. The wedding planner/wedding coordinator that works with BB Riverboat does a really good job! Dana Renae Designs can help you plan your dream Cincinnati BB Riverboats wedding!
